What kept your parents busy at your age?
Nice to think about the question “What kept your parents busy at your age?” I am now 42 years old, let’s checkt what they did.
When my mother was 42 years old, it was 2002 and when my father was 42 years old, it was 1996. They were 6 years apart, so a completely different time for both of them.
The year 1996
For me, 1996 was the year of a new identity -> my gabber time. I shaved my hair, wore an Australian tracksuit and listened to a lot of hardcore music. I know my mother didn’t have such a good time, because at that time she actually wanted a divorce. I suddenly started going out a lot at that time, but she never worried about that. She always let me know that she trusted me and I could always discuss anything with her, and I did. At that time she was much more concerned about my brother’s nightlife, and that was necessary.

The year 2002
In 2002, my parents had already been divorced for two years. I filed for this divorce from my mother because I could see that she was not happy. After my father left home, I didn’t really see him much. I’m not really a visitor anyway, nor am I a caller, and he certainly isn’t. We were both busy with our own things. He visited his mother every day, because his father had died a few years earlier. And his mother helped him with everything, he needed that too.

“What kept your parents busy at your age?” I don’t think either of them were really happy at 42. I must say that I am actually very happy at 42. Although I just lost my mother and will lose my father this year.
