My Winter Sports holiday
During my winter sports trip, I came to the conclusion that I have more than enough in my life. For 16 years, I hadn’t gone on a winter sports trip because I was afraid of the cold. Just admitting to that fear and still going on a winter sports trip was already a huge victory. I expected it to be fun, skiing in the snow with family. But it was more than just fun. It was truly fantastic.
Up there on the mountain, surrounded by white snow. The sun on my skin. Those huge mountains. Really, what a fantastic view. Just pure enjoyment.
The skiing itself also went incredibly well. I expected to be like Bambi on skis, but the turns went well, and I even dared to race down the mountain (when the opportunity was there). It went really well, and I felt as free as a bird.
And then the people. I spent every minute of the day with my husband. We always went out together, super cozy! When the girls were done with their lessons, they joined us too. How proud can a mother be of her children. Seeing them go down the mountain with big smiles on their faces. Well, that brought an even bigger smile to my face.
My in-laws were also with us. Grandpa was actually injured but decided to give it a try. He went down the mountain smoothly, without any issues. He has been on winter sports trips 100 times, so it’s as easy as walking or cycling for him. Grandma is a true speed demon and didn’t lag behind anyone. Wonderful to see.
My brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and nieces were also there. Thanks to them, we ended up here. We were lucky to run into them often and did many descents together. They also had two friends with their son with them. Super cozy, of course. In the end, we were with thirteen people.
The last few days, the girls didn’t have lessons anymore, so we could have lunch together. I found that really cozy. I always enjoy trying out recipes, and doing so in such a beautiful location with so many lovely people was the moment when I had more than enough.
