I think liquid food is only tasty if it is a free choice. If necessary, I immediately experience resistance, especially with food.
Writing assignment #4
Liquid food • Sometimes tasty, sometimes essential
Smoothie time
I love it! Even if I throw the grossest things in there, I’ll just drink it. I must admit that I don’t enjoy it very much, but if I have in mind that it is healthy then it becomes a lot easier. Especially with kale or something, it is really impossible to get rid of it and carrot also becomes so chunky (is that a word?). Spinach slides in easily. If it really isn’t possible, just add a mess of custard and everything will taste fine. The smoothies that my daughter makes are of course the tastiest: milk, banana & strawberry. Just nice and sweet.
Shots!
Shots with ginger, turmeric or red pepper are usually very strong, but I enjoy drinking them. My blood pressure is always very low, but as soon as I have one of those shots everything starts to flow a little faster. 😉 My husband loves those kinds of shots and I get them almost every day. There are tastier options than beets, carrots or avocado, but hey, everything for health.
Baby snacks
When my girls were little, I naturally made baby fruit and vegetable snacks. Although a game of Olvarit was a lot easier. I didn’t do it for a long time, because I only gave them solid food after 6 months due to allergies and after that they quickly started eating, as far as I can remember, it’s been a while!
Forced
My husband had to eat liquid food for a long time during his childhood after a romp with his big brother. Guys! Both front teeth removed by the roots. And of course don’t be careful afterwards. Collision on the bike, liquid food again. With a football ball against his teeth, liquid food again.
My mother-in-law also has to eat liquid food regularly, because she has had cancer three times with the necessary chemotherapy, which regularly causes inflammation in her intestines. With liquid food, no pieces can get stuck in the intestinal folds.
My mother and aunt also received tube feeding in their final stages of life. To have some energy in the last days.
My daughter once also received tube feeding for a week due to an operation in her throat. That little girl was just 4 years old at the time and really didn’t like it, because the tube became very cold due to the food and then it was very heavy on her little stomach, which made her very nauseous.
So sometimes it is a free choice, sometimes it is temporarily necessary and sometimes it extends life.
