Trying new things is something I really love. I’ve never done it before, so I think I might like it!
Writing assignment #30
Awareness
Since I had my burnout in 2010, I have started trying out all kinds of new things. Together with my girlfriend we started a mindfulness course. In my opinion, that is the first step towards awareness. Then meditated a lot. This step was precisely to turn completely inward and feel. I really enjoyed doing it, especially in a large group. I was really carried away and all kinds of things came up that I had never thought about. I also meditated at home, but it was less deep. I always like to do the body scan at home, in bed. We also had a silent day once. Spend the whole day in a group without talking and in the meantime just do everything: meditate, yoga, eat and walk. Walking across the Veluwe was beautiful. Normally we start talking to each other again, but this time we were all focused on ourselves and nature, so I experienced it very differently. We also went for a walk through the snow, barefoot. Well, I’ve been swearing internally! I hated it. In the end it wasn’t too bad, but I still discovered that I’m just afraid of the cold. I’m always just a little colder than others and it takes me more energy to keep myself warm, so I just feel cold more often. But I had never thought about the fact that I was just afraid of it. Since then I have dealt with the cold differently and I am no longer afraid of it.
Nature
Since then I have been much more involved with nature. Not just walking outside, but also seeing the sunset, feeling the wind or the sun. Simple things, but really small moments of enjoyment. And since then I have also been more concerned with natural products. For example, we did a workshop to make natural face cream. I also don’t use detergent, but an Eco Egg washing ball with a special washing machine perfume and I don’t use plastic bottles in the bathroom, only natural soap blocks and HappySoaps hair soap. These are small things, but step by step and those little things make a big difference. I recently attended a lecture about Bosbaden. So I had no idea what it was, but it turns out that Japanese people live completely from nature, even their language has everything to do with trees. I will also write a blog about this again. And I’ve done a hundred thousand other things, they’re in my Spiri album, although I’ve probably forgotten a lot of them. But it’s still fun to try new things. Just do it!
